This is a place where you can enjoy simple living...

Our new project is set on the edge of the tiny hamlet of Sainte Sabine, five minutes drive from medeival St Antonin Noble Val and set on the heights of the spectacular Gorge D'Aveyron. With magnificent views of the sunrise and valleys below, and wonderful walks in every direction, we are looking forward to welcoming you to this special peaceful place.

For those of you who have visited before, you can expect to find Maison D'Artist renovated in a similar rustic style to our last beautiful house, combining authentic charm with comfort. A peaceful place for adults and children alike, to escape form the humdrum of everyday lives and spend time surrounded by nature. The Rustic Retreat is set in 9 hectares of woodland, fields and gardens.

There will be more photos of the interior of Maison D'Artist as Spring approaches.

The house is a rustic, lived-in, peaceful place. The first floor and ground floor have been restored to make a light and comfortable space to be in, keeping all the original character and adding some things we've come across on our travels around Asia and other places.

There are extensive grounds, garden, fields and wooded valleys surrounding the house, and walking routes abound in all directions. There are tree swings for the children (and adults!) a bbq and hamocks, board games and cards, books and binoculars.

Adjoining the main house it a large, deep, ancient stone hangar, now the perfect terrace, a shady place to sit or play when the heat of the sun makes it too hot to run about outside.
You'll find plenty of books on travel, art and other subjects to read, there are paintings on the walls and rugs on the floor. We have an eclectic mix of crockery in a well equiped kitchen with a big family table.
The house can accommodate four to five people and a cot is available for a baby if you need one.
There is a double bedroom leading through to a shared/en suite bathroom with over-sized shower and roll top bath, a second bedroom has two beds. If you'd like to have some toys and books for young children please ask us in advance and we'll arrange it. All bed linen and towels are provided (but please bring your own beach towels).

The house is tucked away in a private and peaceful location on the very edge of a tiny hamlet, five minutes from the medeival town of St Antonin Noble Val. There are endless walks to go on, and ancient stone villages with crumbling castles to explore.
Children will love the closeness to nature where they can let their hair down and run wild outside, discovering lizards and cicadas and collecting eggs from our chickens. (who you have to remember to let out in the morning and put to bed at night in case the fox decides to visit.)
Our friendly cats Blackberry and Cloudy and their numerous kittens will probably visit you for a stroke, they like to laze about on the terrace and do a great job of keeping the mice at bay.
You may also be visited by our beautiful dog, the gentle giant Gwen, she is an ancient French breed used during the war to send messages between troops and renowned for their sweet nature. She's quite puppyish being only two and a half, so she'll be happy to accompany you on walks and play ball if you want her to!

For some of the time, in between taking off on other adventures, we will be based nearby in our house which is situated behind Maison D'Artist. Neither house overlooks each other so there is plenty of privacy for all. We have a caretaker on call should you need help with anything if we are not available.

BE WARNED THOUGH! This is not your average French holiday house with matching utilitarian white plates, T.V, wi-fi and dishwasher. We don't have a swimming pool either, (although there is a great swimming river and two outdoor pools in St Antonin, 5 minutes from the house). There is a washing machine and there are plenty of plugs if you want to bring your own gadgets! You'll need to bring your mobile too.
